Bartlesville police identify 33 year old man whose death is under investigation

Bartlesville police have identified the man who died following an Aug. 20 assault in the 1700 block of West Second Street.

James Anthony Oldham, 33, was identified Monday after police previously withheld his name pending notification of his family, according to a Bartlesville Police Department news release.

Officers responded about 3 p.m. Aug. 20 to the 1700 block of West Second Street. Oldham was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police have not released information about what investigators believe led to Oldham's death.

The department said preliminary information indicates the death stemmed from an "isolated incident" and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Police reiterated that assessment Monday.

"The investigation remains active and ongoing," the department said. Detectives with BPD's Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding Oldham's death, and autopsy findings remain pending.

Police said no additional information was available Monday.
